History of the Dog in Celtic Art
The dog holds profound significance in Celtic art and mythology, symbolizing loyalty, protection, and spiritual guardianship. In ancient Celtic culture, dogs were revered as noble companions to warriors and heroes, often depicted in intricate knotwork and carved stone as symbols of fidelity and courage.
Celtic artisans frequently incorporated canine imagery into jewelry and decorative arts, believing the dog's presence invoked strength and safeguarding energy. This necklace honors that rich tradition, bringing the timeless Celtic reverence for the dog into wearable art—a connection to ancestral wisdom and the protective qualities these noble creatures have represented for centuries.
