This is a replica of the Ahenny South High Cross located in Tipperary County, Ireland.
The South Cross dates from the 8th or 9th century A.D., this cross imitates earlier wooden crosses with raised bosses that represent the studs that would have kept the wooded cross together. The actual South Cross in Ireland stands at 3.9 meters tall and is made of standstone - this 1 1/4" replica is made of pewter.
The carvings on this cross feature intricate Celtic designs and four figure carvings on the base.
