Solid Sterling Silver Scottish Celtic Cross Pendant on an 18" chain.
A highly attractive large Celtic Sterling Silver Cross, with a design based on a traditional stone carved Celtic Cross found in Iona, Scotland.
*****Where this High Cross is found in Scotland
This pendant is a replica of a high cross located the isle of Iona in Scotland (see photo of actual cross in listing). At the western side of the Abbey Church on the Island of Iona, Argyll and Bute, Western Scotland, stands the richly sculptured ‘St Martin’s High Cross’, which is similar to some of the Irish high crosses. It is thought to date from the beginning of the 9th or the late 8th century AD, although some think it to be much earlier.
It was set up on the island in dedication to the French saint, Martin of Tours, who was much venerated in Scotland, Wales and the far west of England.
It will delight lovers of all things Celtic, and the unique history of the Celts and their influence on our lives today.
Crafted entirely of 925 sterling silver, it comes with a Sterling Silver chain. It will make an ideal gift, and a lasting memento, for yourself or for someone you love.
Size - 1 1/2 inches by 1/2 inch with double sided desing.
