A disciple of John the Baptist and older brother of St. Peter, Jesus called them to be “fishers of men.” As an Apostle, he told Jesus of the boy with the loaves and fishes to feed the masses. At his death, he was bound to an X-shaped cross at his request, now known as St. Andrew’s cross, and found on Scotland’s flag.
The St. Andrew Christmas Novena is prayed from his feast day until Christmas.
