An Irish abbot, monastic founder and missionary, contributed to the conversion of the Picts. One of the most popular Celtic saints in Scotland (Kenneth) and Ireland (Canice, Cainnech). Born in 515 in Northern Ireland, the son of a famous bard. Became a disciple of St. Finnian of Clonard, later living at other monasteries where he met Sts. Ciaran and Comgal.

Feast Day is October 11th
