His name is “dove” in Latin, born in 521 in Ireland of royal descent. Studied the priesthood under many prominent churchmen including St. Finnian. Given land in Derry by his prince cousin, he started a monastery, founding over 30 in all in just 10 years as he inspired with his holiness. Still a strong personality with his preaching, he was accused of starting a war between two Irish tribes and sentenced to never see Ireland again, exiled to Scotland in 563; he was later persuaded to return to mediate a dispute but traveled blindfolded to honor his terms of exile. In Scotland he continued evangelizing and establishing monasteries including the abbey on Iona. A “man of letters” he transcribed over 300 books and manuscripts. One of the 12 Apostles loved by both the Irish and Scots died in 597 in Iona. Credited with Irish agricultural and healing miracles. Allegedly first to encounter Loch Ness Monster. Patron of Ireland, Scotland, Derry, bookbinders, poets, missionaries

Made of wood, felt, ribbon, and handmade accessories. Includes tag and card with Saint's biography and description. Approximately 4" tall.
