Feast Day: June 3

Born at the Fort of the White Fountain in Leinster, Ireland of royal descent. Baptized by St. Cronan, educated by St. Petroc. Ordained and became a hermit at the remote Valley of the Two
Lakes in Glendalough, now one of the most important sites of Irish monastic ruins and a chief pilgrimage destination. Led to a small partially manmade cave (“St. Kevins’ bed”) by an angel. After 7 years, persuaded to leave solitary life and found a monastery for the disciples he attracted. Made a pilgrimage to Rome, bringing back many relics for the monastery. A friend of St. Kieran of Clonmacnois, entrusted with raising the sone of King Colman of Ui Faelain. Many extravagant miracles attributed to him, reputed to be 120 at his death. A blackbird said to have made a nest in his prayerfully outstretched hands. Died in 618. Patron of Dublin, Glendalough, Kilnamanagh, blackbirds
